SCRAMBLING AND MOUNTAINEERING

North Wales is the perfect playground if you’re looking for scrambling and mountaineering adventures. Scrambling is where you start taking the slightly steeper way up the mountain, so rather than sticking to the footpaths we start aiming for the rocky steps and steepening’s instead.

The great thing about scrambling is you can chose the route that fits your desires for the day. Graded 1-3 in technicality you can choose your level of adventure. A less complex scramble would see you having to use your hands on the rock, maybe some exciting positions with some exposure but without the need for harnesses and ropes keeping the day fluid. Or choose a more challenging scramble and start learning how to get to grips with harnesses, ropes and some basic climbing equipment.

What is truly unique about North Wales is the volume of amazing scrabbling it has to offer and how so much of it is close to the road. You can have your hands on rock only half an hour from the car park in Cwm Idwall or on Tryfan.
