About me

I’m Matt Hawkins. I was lucky enough to try rock climbing when I was quite young. I absolutely loved it. I convinced my parents to let me join a kids climbing club not too far from where we lived.

That was it, I was hooked and have climbed regularly since. I did my first qualification training course at 17 and still remember how much fun it was. I have been working in the outdoors since I was 18.

I have climbed all over the world. From big alpine accents to hot sunshine sport climbing and everything in between.  

Now all I really want to do is share my passion for the outdoors and the mountains with others.

I am a full time climbing and mountaineering instructor. I live and work in North Wales from April to December, then head to Scotland for January, February and March.

North Wales has an incredible amount of rock climbing to suit all abilities from complete beginner to advanced. There is a great mixture of ‘Trad climbing’, ‘ Sport climbing’ and ‘Bouldering’.

Scotland is the place to head for winter climbing and mountaineering. With it being further north and having higher mountains, it often has the best winter conditions in the UK.
