NAVIGATION
The hills and mountains have so much adventure to offer us. We just need to be able to get there!
On our navigation courses you will learn about maps and how to make the most of the information on them, different ways to use a compass including bearings, measuring distance and using slope aspects. You will learn about different navigation tactics, what to do in poor weather and the most important, what to do if you get lost!
Navigation is a dark art of adventures in the mountains. Being able to navigate well will not only keep you safe in poor weather, low visibility or in the dark, but it will also give you the skills to make the most out of your days in the mountains. A lot of people chose to stay at home on cloudy days as they are worried about getting lost. This is the right choice, but if you can navigate you’ll be able to spend so many more days in the mountains.
On top of that it feels amazing when you successfully navigate your way to a summit in poor weather! Have the confidence and trust in your map and compass to walk through the mist or clouds then the summit coming into view is a real buzz of achievement.
We can help you on your journey to having good, strong and reliable navigation techniques that will allow you to do more of the adventure that you love.
